American Manufacturing Apprenticeship Incentive Fund
About
The U.S. Department of Labor, in collaboration with the State of Arkansas, launched the American Manufacturing Apprenticeship Incentive Fund (AMAIF) to expand access to high-quality Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs). This $35.8 million initiative utilizes a pay-for-performance model to grow the advanced manufacturing workforce in alignment with Executive Order 14278.
The fund supports national workforce objectives by providing financial incentives to eligible sponsors who onboard new apprentices. This initiative modernizes domestic manufacturing capabilities and increases the national count of active apprentices.
Program Structure and Incentives
- Incentive Amount: Eligible sponsors receive a $3,500 payment for each newly-enrolled apprentices, upskilled incumbent workers, and eligible former apprentices entering new advanced manufacturing programs.
- Funding Model: The program operates on a pay-for-performance basis.
- Occupations List: The fund supports more than 120 advanced manufacturing occupations, including aerospace, automotive manufacturing, biotechnology, shipbuilding, semiconductors, and nuclear energy.
- Availability: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until sponsors obligate 100% of the available $35.8 million.
Eligibility and Application Process
The AMAIF Portal serves as the centralized platform for submitting applications and managing incentive requests.
