Brownfields Job Training Grants
About
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced the availability of $6 million in funding for the Brownfields Job Training Grants to support environmental workforce development in communities affected by brownfields and other contaminated sites. The grants fund training programs that prepare unemployed and underemployed residents for environmental careers that support local cleanup, redevelopment, and revitalization efforts.
Brownfields Job Training Grants support the recruitment, training, and placement of unemployed and underemployed residents of communities affected by solid and hazardous waste, brownfields, and other contaminated sites. The grants help build a skilled local workforce by supporting employer-informed, demand-driven training linked to environmental employment opportunities.
Training may include environmental assessment and cleanup, hazardous waste operations, chemical risk management, stormwater management, green infrastructure site preparation, community involvement, and other brownfields-related environmental skills based on local labor market needs. All funded programs must include OSHA 29 CFR § 1910.120 40-hour HAZWOPER training as a required component.
