My Next Move: Career Exploration Tools

About

My Next Move is an interactive web-based resource that assists individuals with career navigation and occupational research. The National Center for O*NET Development developed the platform under the sponsorship of the U.S. Department of Labor to streamline complex labor market information into a user-centric interface.

Workforce development professionals utilize My Next Move as a primary reference material for career counseling, case management, and program intake. The platform’s adherence to O*NET data ensures technical accuracy while maintaining accessibility for a broad audience, including transitioning veterans, students, and dislocated workers.

The tool provides three distinct entry points for career exploration:

Keyword Search: Users research specific occupations by name or industry.
Industry Browse: Users explore over 900 career options categorized by economic sector.
O*NET Interest Profiler: This standardized assessment aligns a user’s interests with potential career paths through a series of specialized questions.
