Understanding the Costs of Accommodations in the Workplace

About

In their article A to Z: Costs and Benefits of Accommodation, Job Accommodation Network (JAN) offers valuable insights into the costs associated with workplace accommodations for employees with disabilities. Contrary to common assumptions, many accommodations are low-cost or even free. JAN's research shows that over half of accommodations cost nothing, and the median one-time expenditure for those that do have a cost is typically around $300.

Providing accommodations not only enhances employee productivity and retention but also supports compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Employers also benefit from the positive impact on workplace morale and reduced training costs.
