About

Come hear from the state of Maine about what worked and what didn’t during a recent large round of layoffs there where the majority of workers primarily speak a language other than English.

Moderator

Tim Theberge, Division Director, OTAA

Presenter(s)

Judy Pelletier, Maine Department of Labor

Recently, a large layoff occurred in Maine that impacted hundreds of temporary workers whose primary languages were not English. This presented a challenge to the Maine Department of Labor and their partners for how to best conduct outreach to and to serve these workers. Come here from the practitioners about what worked, and more importantly, about what didn’t work in reaching these workers and providing them access to services in the workforce development system.
