EIElizabeth IslipI work in an adult school and part of my job is teaching English to new immigrants. They all want to work. I’m looking for skills on how to help them get a job quickly.

WorkforceGPS TeamDuring this session, we will look at one assessment tool that can be used with non-English speaking job seekers. In terms of getting a job quickly, one strategy is to leverage their existing skills as much as possible—particularly the skills that set them apart from the rest of the applicants. If the job seeker is fluent in another language, searching for that language when conducting a job search could be a good starting point, depending on the specific language and where they live. EnGen is a great resource for organizations that work with a lot of ELL clients. They offer online, self-paced, career-aligned English classes: EnGen - Language upskilling platform (getengen.com) We encourage you to attend the upcoming session and learn about more resources and tools that can assist you in this work!
