Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping the economy and transforming how work gets done. From offices, to manufacturing floors, hospital wings, classrooms and more, AI tools are being adopted across sectors, changing how tasks are completed and how decisions are made. In an increasingly AI-driven economy, every worker will need baseline AI literacy skills to succeed, regardless of industry or occupation.

The Department of Labor has issued an AI Literacy Framework to provide a common foundation to guide AI literacy efforts for workers, employers, training providers, teachers and faculty, state and local agencies, and other workforce and education system stakeholders. Taylor Stockton, DOL’s Chief Innovation Officer, will provide an overview of the framework and discuss how the public workforce community can use the framework to address skill needs of workers and job seekers. Participants will hear from workforce leaders at the state and local level about what they are doing to incorporate AI skills development into existing training programs. They will also share new initiatives to provide AI skills and credentials for new entrants into the workforce as well as incumbent workers who need to bolster their skills to remain competitive in today’s economy. Attendees will leave with a stronger understanding of DOL’s AI Literacy Framework and ideas for applying this framework in their communities to develop an AI-ready workforce.
